Home cooling efforts date back at least to the Romans times. The ancient Persians made some advances toward achieving indoor comfort as well. Before air-conditioned vehicles became available humans adapted their clothing to try to keep cool outside. People living in desert lands adopted robes to keep the sun off the skin. And they still do that in desert lands. In the tropics, people often chose to wear little or no clothing. And they still do that, of course, in the sweltering tropics. Elsewhere, I guess we’re still going to need air conditioners.
